Shopping locally is essential for any small community
to thrive, but for the consumer it has to make economic
sense as well. The Evergreen Design Center was the longtime
vision of the late Ted La Montagne who owned and operated The Hardware.
That vision has come to life standing toe-to-toe with any top design hub, offering
the finest products and services at great value right in Evergreen. Located on
Meadow Drive at the east end of downtown Evergreen, the original barn of the
Hiwan Homestead (previous location of The Hardware) is home to four of the businesses,
while the building that was the bunk house houses two more. These historic
buildings have been given renewed life and are filled with the passions of these
local artisans. In return, the structures themselves present the wares in an
ambiance that just couldn’t be replicated. Visiting each business is truly an escape.
Evergreen Design Center also participates with the Downtown Gallery Walk on the
last Friday of each month from 5 pm to 8 pm, May through October
